Penelope trained at Christchurch Polytechnic, completing a double degree in Visual Communication and Craft Design, majoring in Print Making, Sculpture, and 3D Design.
Penelope’s jewellery skills are, however, largely self-taught, although she says that working alongside Warwick Freeman for six months did give her some pointers!
She was awarded an emerging artist grant from Creative New Zealand for a project called Pacific Pearl, which allowed her to complete a residency in Rarotonga.
Now living in Auckland, Penelope has exhibited in more than seventy shows both nationally and internationally, including shows in Paris, New York, New Orleans, Sydney, and Rarotonga. Both the Auckland Museum and The Dowse Art Museum have bought Penelope’s work for their collections.
