Jeremy Leeming

Following the completion of his diploma from Otago School of Art in 1992, Jeremy took up an apprenticeship in Nelson with jeweller Jens Hansen. He gained extensive experience in working with gold and silver while studying Jens’s unique blend of contemporary and traditional Scandinavian design. Jeremy is now based in Christchurch at The Filing Kabinett. His motivation to create is to find simplicity in form, endeavouring to create work with clean lines using a simple palette of materials. Jeremy is fascinated by the enduring qualities of New Zealand jasper, argillite, basalt and nephrite. Using techniques of lapidary he works on each piece individually, ensuring that each form is created in sympathy with the material.
