Jasmine Watson graduated from Unitec School of Design, Auckland in 1995, with a Diploma in Jewellery Design. Since then, she has worked in the film industry making jewellery and armour. Her projects include Peter Jackson’s trilogy ‘The Lord of the Rings’, and Andrew Adamson’s film ‘The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe’. Jasmine’s jewellery is inspired by the ornate floral designs of oriental textiles: the elaborate geometric arrangements of arabesques, and the infinite formations of mandalas. Combining her background in film and costume-making with a love of intricate detail and ornamental surfaces, she layers and repeats pierced silhouettes to create jewellery that evokes a sense of theatre and occasion.
